The book contains 84 black-and-white photos of angel statues at catholic cemeteries in Italy. These masterpieces of the Italian sculptor art were created between 1850 and 1920. The photos and an accompanying text guide the reader through the mysterious world of the monumental necropolis, which are populated by angels of all kinds:
apostelic angels, guardian angels, avenging angels, warden angels, angels of death, angels of concealment, writing angels and angels of war. Furthermore we see the archangels Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel - and Metatron, one of the most mysterious angels.

In the second part we descend to hell and see Satan and his brides Lilith and Naamah, a seductive and erotic demon, who neither mortal men nor divine angels can resist. Also other angels of hell are on the rampage and hunt lost souls.

The final chapter tells of the apocalypse, in which angels play a crucial role. The catastrophe starts when seven angels one after the other blow their trombones. Four angels will be freed in order to kill a third of mankind. On the Day of Judegement Michael and the heavenly hosts finally succeed in defeating Satan and his demons and throwing them into a lake of burning sulfur.
